PERMISSION
The first bit of advice I give people wanting to know how to "get started" with ghosthunting is.....
Get permission before you investigate a place unless it's somewhere public.
Many a time I have been told I was trespassing and made a swift getaway...
Most councils if you ask and verify that your not a chav wanting somewhere to sit and drink and vandalize a place...
They are pretty happy to let you have a look around most places...
The national trust, however, isn't as giving ...You sometimes are offered a guide or given written permission stating how many will be there and what time you will be there til....
Make sure you know the history of places unless you take a psychic medium...its useful to know who may be haunting the place and if there is are any negative spirits there..
PROTECTION-I rarely have come across a spirit that was harmful but occasionally this can be the case, ask your medium to perform a group protection which should help deter any harmful spirits, if you do not have a medium then imagine yourself in a bright yellow light whilst holding the other members hands keep your eyes closed ask for the yellow light to protect you also if you are aware of any spirit guides or past relatives ask them to watch over you,,,also wearing an item of jewelry that belonged to a loved one can work just as well(for years i wore my grandmothers ring until i felt confident enough to go it alone and i was never harmed or felt threatened)
EVPS(ELECTROMAGNETIC VOICE PHENOMENA)
POLITENESS is a must spirits have feeling and in my experience if you use please and thankyou you get a much better response...
Also when you enter a place let spirits know what you are doing and ask them if you can take their picture...
Also when you leave to make sure you say thankyou...and even if you are sure you haven't caught any evidence you may find something later so if you return to the place at a later date the spirits will possibly remember you politeness and be more compliant ...
SENSE OF HUMOUR-This makes everyone more relaxed and able to function better as a team is really strict and bossy is not a good idea unless you are doing an EVP session when you must tell everyone to keep quiet or if they need to say something make sure they don't whisper...
EVP ANALYSIS-The program i use is called AUDACITY
